The Joe Boway Family - Liberian Children's Mission
Joe Boway was commissioned in 2004 as a missionary to the people of Liberia by New Life Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Joe was born in Liberia, West Africa and came to the US in 1990 due to the civil war in Liberia. While Joe was a student at Taylor University, he did student teaching here at Bethlehem. He and Glendora were married in 2004, and were blessed with two sons, Joe Weatu and Joshua Glenn Gbaweah. Joe has visited us many times here at Bethlehem. In 2004 we spearheaded a drive to collect money to hel Joe begin his dream of Christian schools for Liberian children. ..$25, at that time, would educate one child for one year, and according to Joe's newsletter, $25 will still educate one child for one year! What stewardship! Because of the civil war, a whole generation of Liberian children were without any education. There are over 5,000 students in 14 schools, at latest ount! Over 75% of the new students are from a non-church background.
Joe travels regularly to Liberia to train, encourage, check on needs, etc. In the past, we, along with other churches, have helped Joe fill shipping containers (sponsored by the Orphan Grain Train) with all sorts of useful items to fill the school's nees...old computers, furniture, supplies, books from our former library, etc. To learn more about the Liberian Children's MIssion, email Joe at Bowayj@aol.com and ask to receive his monthly Prayer Letter, with pictures and updates.
